London's oldest family run restaurant

Spanning six decades and four generations, Il Portico has been cooking regional & wild food since it was first opened by Pino Chiavarini. Still managed to this day by the same family, James and Marianna draw heavily from their ancestors influence by providing simple, authentic Italian food from their home region of Emilia Romagna.

Pino the original owner now runs the family farm in Kent where much of our produce is sourced, including our specialty of wild game.

Wood fired Osteria & Pizzeria

Inspired by the rustic cooking of our home region of Emilia Romagna, Pino is our sister restaurant and wine bar next door to Il Portico.  Classic Italian cocktails and sharing plates sit side by side with our organic pizzas from the wood burning oven.

 All our wines are available by the glass or bottle while our amaro bar specialises in rare and sought after Italian aperitifs and vermouths.

We also operate a Click and Collect service. You can select this option at checkout.
We currently offer free delivery on all orders to W8, W11 & W14.
Delivery for all other orders is free over £60.

We will bring back our Home James service as soon as possible.

Famiglia Portico is the mother group of il Portico and Pino.  

The Chiavarini family (4 generations) have been cooking Italian specialities from Emilia Romagna in London since our first restaurant il Portico. Being part of the original wave of Italian restaurants that opened in the 1960’s, it proudly continues to this day as London’s oldest family run restaurant. In 2021 we opened our sister restaurant ‘Pino’ next door, with menu inspired by the neighbourhood Enoteche and Osterie of Emilia. At Pino you can find classic Italian cocktails and sharing plates side by side with our organic pizzas from the wood burning oven as well as an extensive list of fine wines by the glass.

My wife Marianna and myself are here to welcome you in, and our chef Eduardo (now in his 32nd year of service with us) is always here to ensure you’re well fed. My father Pino, 81 years young, now runs the family farm in Kent, where much of our organic produce is sourced, including our speciality of wild game and foraged foods. We look forward to see you very soon.
